Jungian Analysis

Francisca Johnson offers Jungian analysis on a once or twice a week basis. Jungian analysis includes methods of dream interpretation and the use of the therapeutic relationships (transference) for self-understanding. Initially, the work involves freeing the self from unconscious patterns that interfere with effective relationships, appreciation of life, and creative development. The goal of the analysis is to allow the unique individuality of the client to unfold so that life becomes more creative, vital and meaningful.

What is Jungian Analysis?

Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung (1875 – 1961) developed his own model of understanding and healing the individual psyche. Jungian analysis is a comprehensive model of the human psyche, that offers a psychotherapeutic approach to psychological healing that facilitates the development of the personality. It also provides a theoretical body of knowledge with wide applicability to social and cultural issues.
The process of Jungian analysis usually involves weekly hour-long face to face meetings with an analyst in his or her office. As a client you may bring your life experiences, conflicts and problems to the hour as well as your fantasies and dreams. One of the premises of Jungian work is that our conscious selves are only a part of a larger whole that includes our forgotten experiences as well as our as yet unlived life potentials. It is the aim of Jungian analysis to create a space where the unconscious processes involved both in our suffering and in our healing may be explored. In this way not only may past difficulties be addressed but also future pathways may be discovered and activated in the service of realizing more fully the unconscious potential in our lives. In analysis you may find an opportunity to explore your relationship with your own religious tradition, as well as how to allow your own unique values to unfold in your life. In addition, Jungian analysis may become a journey that leads to a deepened sense of transpersonal or spiritual meaning.

Who can benefit from Jungian Analysis?

Jungian analysis can be helpful to anyone with problems such as anxiety, depression, emotional crises, excessive fears, insomnia and nightmares, marital difficulties, psychosomatic issues, professional problems, relationship issues, self-doubts, or poor self-image. It can also help if you are suffering from a loss of creativity, seeking new directions at mid-life, looking to explore your unknown talents and abilities, or trying to recover a sense of personal meaning in your life.
